Instructions for Use

NOT RECOMMENDED

Do not use our Tiles or Stones in any location where heat is applied unevenly. Such locations would include: BBQ grill, any type of cooktop (gas or electric), broiler, oven set to "broil," fireplace, woodstove, and potentially others. This may lead to uneven expansion and breakage, and we do not guarantee our Tiles or Stones for these uses.

FOOD TILES

HOT: Place Tile in a hot oven for 20-30 minutes (longer at low temps, less at high temps). Or, wrap Tile in a small, damp towel & heat in microwave for about 3 minutes. Wearing hotpads, place hot Tile in bottom of basket. COLD: Chill Tile in freezer for several hours. Place frozen Tile in bottom of basket. FOOD: Place hot or cold food on top of Tile & cover with cloth napkin. The napkin can open under the Tile and wrap over your food, or place it over the top of your food and tuck it in around edges of the basket. The Tile will keep your food hot or cold for the duration of your meal! DISPLAY: We carve a hole in the back or every Tile so you can hang it on the wall using a small nail. CLEANING: You can wash your Tile by hand or in the dishwasher.

BAKING STONES

(NOTE: We use a special clay body, and we high-fire our Stones. Therefore, our Stones are more durable and versatile than the factory-made stones, so these instructions are specific to our Stones only.)

BAKING: Before first use, rub a light coating of olive oil on undecorated side of Stone to start the seasoning process. Or, instead of using oil, you can sprinkle the undecorated side with cornmeal. Place food directly on undecorated side of Stone. When baking, Stone & oven can start out cold or pre-heated. (Pre-heated may work best when baking thick items.) SERVING TRAY: For hot serving tray, heat Stone in oven for 20-30 minutes, & use oven mitts to set hot Stone in basket. For cold serving tray, chill in freezer for at least one hour, then set frozen Stone in basket. Place bowls or pans of hot/cold food on the heated/frozen Stone. DISPLAY: Stone can be hung on a wall using a spring-loaded 14" plate hanger, or display Stone on an easel. CLEANING: You can wash your Stone by hand or in the dishwasher. If you use the dishwasher, you might need to rub a little more oil (or cornmeal) onto the baking surface just prior to using again. Spills on the basket clean up easily using a damp sponge.
